When your parents named you, you were pretty much stuck with whatever they chose. Sure there are nicknames (I go by “Mike”, never “Michael”) and if you’re really unhappy with your name, you can go through the process to legally change it.
Many of us chose our official Facebook usernames 5 weeks ago and the social network announced a few days ago that it’s now allowing a one-time change – perfect for those who have “username remorse” from their initial choice.
While no one knows for sure how Facebook will continue to be a part of our lives over time, there is at least one scenario that has us wedded to our Facebook usernames for a very long time. Sure it’s just a name…but our names help identify who we are. Just think about how many times a day you say your name. As social networks continue to redefine how we communicate with one another, you may just be giving out your Facebook username a whole lot more in the future. Let’s hope you like what you chose.
